Senior citizens in Noida are demanding a connecting bridge linking the Noida Metro Aqua line’s Sector 51 station to the nearby Delhi Metro Blue line due to the hardship faced by them commuting between the two stations, the Hindu reports.
The 29.7 km-Aqua line runs from between Sector 51 and depot stations. Currently, commuters need to walk around 200 meters from the Sector 51 station exit on an under-construction road to reach the Blue Line at the Sector 52 station, a resident Ajay Chaturvedi said.
“I do not understand why the Noida Metro Rail Corporation is causing such big trouble to senior citizens and women travelling with children to walk on a road to board the Blue Line. They must build a bridge as early as possible,” Chaturvedi said while adding that he suggested in this regard officially to the Noida Metro authority.
The Noida rail corporation which runs an e-rickshaw service at free of cost for commuters from Sector 51 to the Blue Line station. However, commuters are complaining that it is hard to avail the service during peak hours or late in the night as the e-rickshaws are unavailable.
