In a decision that will benefit those travelers using charter flights and private jets, the Delhi airport (DEL) authority will be creating a dedicated fixed-base operator (FBO) terminal for them at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi, reports Financial Express.
Flights will begin to operate out of this new terminal beginning from October this year (2019). Dedicated terminals for private and charter flights are internationally known to be a hallmark of major airports; they provide parking, fueling, aircraft rental, maintenance and other critical services.
The project is being implemented on the basis of a concession agreement, with a private company involved in implementing it. The new terminal will also enable the provision of better general aviation facilities at the airport.
Another step being taken to create greater convenience for passengers is to set up a driverless monorail connecting all the terminals of IGI airport. A feasibility study regarding the project has already been initiated.
