Despite The Shock He Gave To His Uncle, Ajit Pawar Might Be Rehabilitated In Family And Party

Ajit Pawar on Tuesday (26 November) night met with his uncle and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar at the latter's residence 'Silver Oak’, after he resigned as deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, reports The Free Press Journal.

NCP leader Supriya Sule was also present in the first meeting between uncle and nephew after Ajit’s shocking move of forming a government with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra.

Before his meeting with the NCP supremo, Ajit had met with Sadanand Sule, son-in-law of Sharad Pawar and husband of Supriya and had apologised for his conduct, after which he resigned as the deputy CM.

There are speculations that Ajit Pawar will continue to be a key member of the NCP. As per the Free Press Journal report, Sharad Pawar might forget-and-forgive his nephew and restore his position in the family as well as the party.

Things may take time but as they stand today, it seems Ajit will try to fix the damage caused to his image and position in the party. Today (27 November), as he arrived at the State Assembly, he was welcomed by MP Supriya Sule. The two cousins met and hugged before Ajit proceeded in.

NCP chief’s Pratibha Pawar had also spoken to Ajit on telephone who told him, "Your decision will hurt our family. You should come back." She is said to have played a vital role in her nephew’s return.

All these efforts and gestures are underway to rehabilitate him within the party.

Even though he was absent at the Maha Vikas Aghadi legislatures’ meeting where Uddhav Thackeray was unanimously elected as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra, former Deputy CM Chhagan Bhujbal suggested Ajit should be invited back into the NCP fold.

Shiv Sena leader and MLA from Aurangabad Abdul Sattar Nabi also agreed that an experienced administrator like Ajit Pawar should be utilised for the benefit of the state.

Even when he was adamant on not resigning as Devendra Fadnavis’s deputy, he had not compromised his relations with NCP leaders. He had met several party leaders who tried to convince him to return and did not make any statements on the comments and actions of his party.
