DMRC To Install Mobile Towers Across 94 Stations To Provide Uninterrupted Mobile Connectivity To Delhi Metro Passengers

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will be setting up mobile towers to improve mobile connectivity at 94 of its metro stations spread across five corridors, the Financial Express reports. Currently, most of the stations under the Delhi Metro have very poor to no mobile connectivity.

Mobile operators will lend space from DMRC and install the equipment to boost signals. The towers will be set up over 15 stations on Red Line, 11 stations of the Green Line, 14 stations of Violet Line line, 36 stations of the Blue Line and 18 stations on the Yellow Line.

The Blue Line will have towers installed from Noida city centre to Shadipur station, Kirti Nagar to Noida sector-8 metro stations ad Lakshmi Nagar to Vaishali. The complete project is expected to be completed in six months.

The plan to install towers does not include the Magenta Line and Pink Line which were built in the phase-3. Incidentally, the Magenta Line that runs between Botanical Garden and Janakpuri West has the weakest of mobile connectivity as most of the stations are underground.
