A Pakistani Sikh girl was allegedly abducted, forced to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim man in Nankana Sahib area of Lahore.
A video surfaced on social media where her family members were alleging that the girl, Jagjit Kaur, was forcefully abducted and converted to Islam. They also alleged that the kidnapper threatened the girl that if she did not convert to Islam, her father and brother will be shot.
The family also appealed Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene in the matter and help them in bringing back the girl.
In another video, the girl can be seen sitting beside a man while an Islamic cleric can be heard asking her some questions. Later, the cleric arranged her marriage with the man.
According to media reports, the 19-year-old, who is the daughter of a ‘granthi’ (priest) of Gurudwara Tambu Sahib, was allegedly forcibly taken away at gunpoint on night of 27-28 August.
This is the latest of the many reported cases in Pakistan where Hindu, Sikh and Christian girls are forcibly converted to Islam and married to Muslim men.
Earlier in March, two teenage Hindu girls belonging to Dharki town of Sindh province in Pakistan were abducted and forcefully converted to Islam on the eve of Holi.
