Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap today shared a video-clip on social media, allegedly showing similarity between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech with that of Hitler in Nazi Germany.
“I know who is hating me. Hate me if you wish, but don’t hate Germany,” read the English captions for Hitler speaking in German in the clip.
Kashyap wrote in the tweet, “hate me but dont hate India - बेचारे हमारे प्रधानमंत्री [Our poor prime minister] #UrbanNazi”
The social media users were quick to point out that fake subtitles had been added in the clip, which didn’t translate what Hitler was saying in the clip.
Wirth also provided an English translation in another tweet:
“(It's not enough = my addition) Here the clip starts: "to speak of this people/ nation (Volk) as brothers but to go into the midst of people, to overcome all its ??, and then to help and to help again and again."
“If I remember right, this video was a few years ago already used and I refuted it. Who did the translation?” she said.
