In a major boost for the Khadi producers and other artisans from the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), the Walmart-owned e-commerce giant Flipkart on Thursday (3 October) joined hands with the Uttar Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board (UPKVIB) under a programme called 'Samarth', reports Financial Express.

Flipkart signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UPKVIB, under which the e-commerce company will be on boarding the artisans and handicraft makers affiliated to the UPKVIB to sell khadi and other village made products online.

The move is meant to help boost the reach and awareness about khadi and other village made handicraft products, while also making them more accessible for the consumers pan-India. It should be noted that Flipkart had signed a similar MoU with the Government of Jharkhand in September.
