Over the past One-and-a-half-month, as many as 513 ceasefire violations by Pakistan have taken place along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, a senior Indian Army officer said on Saturday (13 April 2019), reports The Hindu.
In retaliatory response by India, Pakistan has reportedly suffered five-six times the casualties than the Indian side. The exact figures cannot be ascertained because Pakistan Army does not announce the number of its casualties.
The tensions remain so heightened in this course that Pakistan resorted to the active usage of heavy weaponry like mortars and artillery guns at more than a hundred instances, targeting civilian areas, pushing the Indian Army to give them a befitting reply, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of White Knight Corps Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Paramjit Singh apprised the reporters in Rajouri.
“They (troops) have every kind of weaponry and explosives with them and their resolve is rock solid and always prepared for any challenge. As long as they are on the border, you are safe,” Lt Gen Singh was quoted in the report as saying.
