Two people have been beheaded and several others were stabbed in a suspected terror attack at a cathedral in France's Nice, reports Dailymail.
The mass stabbing happened at the Notre-Dame basilica in Nice at around 9 am just as morning mass had just started, with several others injured.
The attacker was shot and arrested by the police. He was later taken to the hospital.
Nice's mayor Christian Estrosi has suggested that the attack was an act of terrorism.
"I am on site with the [police] who arrested the perpetrator of the attack," Estrosi tweeted.
The Notre Dame Basilica, a Roman Catholic church, is the largest place of worship in Nice.
Estrosi said the attacker had repeated “Allahu Akbar” several times while he was being restrained by police, reports Guardian.
The French parliament suspended a debate on new virus restrictions and held a moment of silence for the victims.
It should be noted that the attack comes less than two weeks after a school teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded by an Islamist fanatic in Paris after he showed cartoons of Prophet Mohammed during a lecture on freedom of speech.
