Gadkari To Lay Foundation Stone Of Various National Highway Projects In J&K On 27 September

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate and lay foundation stone of several National Highway projects in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday (27 September).

Gadkari will also review and inspect Z-Morh and Zojila Tunnel on 28 September, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said on Friday (24 September).

According to the ministry, Gadkari will lay the foundation stone for road projects including Baramula-Gulmarg: NH-701A; Vailoo to Donipawa (P-VI): NH-244; and Donipawa to Ashajipra (P-VII): NH-244.

The Union Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the four lane 42-km long ring road around Srinagar.


On 28 September, Gadkari will visit the Z-Morh portal area, and will drive through the Z-Morh main tunnel.

The Z-Morh tunnel will provide all weather connectivity to Sonamarg tourist town, the ministry said.

Later, the minister will also visit twin tube Nilgrar tunnel-I and II. Nilgrar-I and II are part of the 18 Km long approach road to Zojila west portal.

Total cost of the approach road including both these tunnels is Rs 1,900 crore, the ministry said.

He will also visit Zojila Tunnel through west portal. Total length of the Zojila Tunnel is 14.15 km and awarded cost of the project is Rs 2,610 crore, it added.
