The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) headed by Union Minister Amit Shah is set to revamp the British-designed Indian Penal Code (IPC) which came into force long back in 1860, reports The Hindu.
The present form of the IPC which is primarily based on the mindset of 'master and slave' was structured to protect the interests of the colonial rulers of India, which stands archaic today.
Taking forward the matter in full steam, the MHA has already written to all the States and Union Territories of India, seeking suggestions and inputs to amend several sections of the IPC. Two committees have also been formed to pursue the matter.
