Haryana Government Will Provide Free Land To Set Up Gurukuls, Says CM Manohar Lal Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced that the state government would give free land to Gurukuls which would provide education to children at no cost, PTI has reported.

Khattar made this statement in Chandigarh on Tuesday, while speaking at a program called - “Relevance of the Gurukul system in the present era”. He was the chief guest at this event organised by Panchnad Shodh Sansthan.

Khattar also assured that the state government would aid these Gurukuls in making all the required arrangements which includes arranging for teachers.

He underlined the importance of the Gurukuls by claiming that instead of being confined to reading, writing and arithmetic, the education system should be expanded to inculcating moral values, yoga and patriotism.

He also claimed that earlier it was the responsibility of the society to provide free education and healthcare to all, but today the common man lacks resources to avail these facilities.

As per an Indian Express report, there are currently more than 4,000 Gurukuls running in the country. The report also quoted Panchnad Shodh Sansthan’s director - Prof BK Kuthiala, as claiming that they run a total of 32 such organisations Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.
