Amid the ongoing face-off between Indian and China, the Haryana government has decided to scrap allocation of work on two power sector projects to keep Chinese companies, The Hindu has reported.

The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited will now float fresh tenders for the installation of Flue Gas Desulphurisation systems at its Hisar and Yamuna Nagar plants.

In the earlier tendering process five and three bids were received for the projects at Yamuna Nagar and Hisar respectively. In case of Yamuna Nagr plant three bids were from Chinese companies and two from Indian organisation - namely EPIL and BHEL.

In both the projects, the Chinese companies emerged as L-1 bidders. The combined expense for the two projects was Rs 600 crore.

While the tenders were almost finalised the state government has now decided to cancel the bidding process and float fresh tenders. Now only companies registered in India would reportedly be allowed to bid for the project.
