With the alarming surge in fresh COVID-19 cases continuing in Kerala, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan yesterday (27 August) shot off another letter to the state government expressing serious concerns over the situation, reports Hindustan Times.
Bhushan listed out immediate measures to contain the surge and also stressed that the state would have to ramp up its containment measures on a priority basis and increase tests considerably to check the high transmission.
Bhushan further asked the state government to strictly abide by the Union government's norms on high transmission clusters and to strengthen contact tracing measures. He added that all district administrations will have to comply with the accepted norms of home quarantine and there should be an intensive follow up on such cases. Covid-19 appropriate behaviour should be enforced at any cost and mass gathering should be avoided.
