D Satyanarayana, a Hindu priest in Warangal who was brutally beaten a few days back for playing Suprabhatam at Sivasai Temple, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday (1 November), Hans India has reported.
Following the attack, the accused was identified as Natiq Hussaini, a resident of LB Nagar in Hyderabad. As reported by The Hindu, the assaulter was an Imam.
Media reports claimed that Hussaini had demanded that the priest stop playing the devotional music but the priest refused to do so. This enraged the accused who then brutally assaulted the Hindu priest. This assault was later stopped by onlookers, but it was too late.
The priest was later admitted to NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad where he, unfortunately, passed away.
As reported earlier, Inspector L Jeevan Reddy informed the media that a case was successfully booked against the accused. Furthermore, several BJP leaders including Warangal President Rao Padma Reddy, and Former MLA M Dharma Rao took out a protest, condemning the brutal attack on the priest. They also demanded that the priest’s kin be given an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh.
The whole assault was captured on the temple’s CCTV cameras based on which the police arrested the accused.
