Huge Relief For Delhites: Skywalk Connecting Railway Station To Metro Terminal To Be Ready In A Year

BySwarajya Staff

Individuals who are taking the metro to New Delhi railway station won’t need to cross crowded lanes to get to the platforms as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in a year from now, will construct a 225-meter skywalk, which would be an augmentation of the FOB (foot overbridge) inside the rail route station.

The skywalk will take commuters specifically to the Delhi Metro station, the Airport Express Line, autorickshaw lanes and parking areas, Financial Express reports.

At present, individuals leaving the New Delhi metro station and going towards Ajmeri Gate terminal need to walk a significant distance to enter the station and then climb a FOB to reach the station platforms. The course is considerably longer for those leaving the railway station and trying to reach the Delhi Metro.

A DMRC representative was cited in the report saying that the outline of the skywalk has been completed and a tender will be floated to manufacture a FOB to connect the New Delhi metro station with the railway station. He added that the current FOB at the railway station will be stretched out to the metro station. The skywalk will link the metro station’s gate numbers 2, and 5 and also the elevator at gate number 5 will be integrated with it.
