The new chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria on Friday (4 October) informed that the work on indigenously made fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) has already begun under the government’s Make in India programme, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The fifth-generation platform being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has been christened Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) and will be inducted into the IAF upon development, against any foreign FGFA platform.
Bhadauria also underscored that indigenously developed platforms and systems under Make in India initiative of the Government shall be IAF's prime focus concern in the times to come to reduce dependence on foreign platforms.
