India sends "gift from the people of India to the Palestinian people."
On Sunday (22 October), India dispatched approximately 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for the people of Palestine.
The Indian Air Force used a C-17 transport aircraft to send the consignments.
The aid is being transported to El-Arish airport in Egypt via the plane.
"India sends Humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine. An IAF C-17 flight carrying nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for the people of Palestine departs for El-Arish airport in Egypt," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on X.
He said the supplies include "essential life-saving medicines, surgical items, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, water purification tablets among other necessary items."
India provided aid to Palestine three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, for the loss of civilian lives at a Gaza hospital.
