About Kapil Kapoor
Kapil Kapoor is an Indian scholar of linguistics, literature and culture. He is an authority on intellectual traditions, and has taught for over five decades.
Kapoor was Dean of the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University from 1996 to 1999. He then took on the role of Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the university from 1999 to 2002. He retired from JNU in 2005.
He is also the editor-in-chief of the 11-volume Encyclopedia of Hinduism published by Rupa & Co. in 2012.
