In a positive development, around 95 per cent of Haryana’s rural population have access to potable drinking water under the ambitious ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), reports Livemint.
While the scheme aims to ensure assured tap water access for all rural households by 2024, Haryana has already achieved 95 per cent coverage, with 12 out of its 22 districts having already met the 100 per cent target. Bhiwani, Sonipat and Charkhi Dadri are the latest additions to the list.
As per a statement issued by the Union Ministry for Jal Shakti, Goa, Telangana, Puducherry, and Andaman Nicobar Islands have achieved the 100 per cent target.
Also, since the launch of JJM on 15 August 2019, around 4.4 crore households have been provided with tap water connections.
