The vote count has begun for 81 assembly seats in the state of Jharkhand.
At the time of reporting, the Congress-JMM-RJD alliance has taken a slender lead over the BJP as Sudesh Mahto-led All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) eye kingmaker roles, reports News18.
As per reports, the incumbent Chief Minister Raghubar Das is trailing from Jamshedpur East, and JMM leader Hemant Soren, the son of Shibu Soren, is leading from Dumka but trailing in Barhait.
Earlier, the exit poll predicted hung assembly and reported that the Bharatiya Janata Party can expect to win between 28 and 36 seats which is less than its 2014 tally of 37 seats. The opposition Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal combine were expected to win around between 31 and 39 seats.
The situation looks favourable for marginal players like the AJSU and JVM which can look forward to calling the shots in the event of both major players falling short by 10 seats.
