Two Indian Army soldiers including one Major were injured after an explosion took place on the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Nowshera sector on Thursday (10 September), Hindustan Times reported.
"A major and a JCO (junior commissioned officer) were injured when they inadvertently stepped on to a landmine along the LoC in Nowshera sector on Thursday morning. They were on a patrol in a forward area,” said a defence official quoted in the report.
Landmine explosions are not uncommon in border areas and pose a threat to Indian soldiers.
Such landmines are often planted by terrorists from Pakistan which infiltrate into the Indian territory with the help of Pakistan Army. The landmines often cause harm to Indian soldiers out on patrolling.
