Karnataka: Centuries Old Halasaru Temples Left In Shambles As Management Shows No Interest In Preservation

Owing to lack of preservation efforts, two temples at Halasaru has been left in shambles. Both the temples are centuries old and have also been plagued by encroachment. The management of these temples have reportedly done very little to better their conditions.

Deccan Herald quoted B R Chandran, who happens to be a member of the Halasuru Temples Seva Bhaktha Mandali as saying, “The ancient compound walls of the Someshwara temple are in ruins. They have not been reconstructed. The kalyani is filled with water from the drains and stinks. Many building works inside and outside the temple are left pending.”

According to him, the executive officer of the temple is to be blamed as he has not responded in any manner or fashion that can be deemed appropriate.

As far as the Subramanya Swamy temple goes, he says, “A part of the temple premises was sold to the Bangalore Metro, but the area has now become a dumping ground and a place for illegal parking,” a devotee told Deccan Herald.

Memorandums have been submitted to the officials of the muzrai department. The muzrai department official said that the body has asked the executive officer to take action in this matter.
