A team of around 150 officials from various state departments have succeeded in tranquilising the rogue elephant, ‘Arikomban’ today (29 April), i.e., on the second day of the operation.

The previous day's operation had to be suspended as the officials were unable to locate it.

Arikomban is a 30-year-old wild elephant in the Idukki district, known for storming houses and ration shops in search of rice.

It was radio-collared and transferred to a location within the Periyar Tiger Reserve near Thekkady.
