Children of IAS Officers are among the beneficiaries of a Maharashtra government scheme which aims to provide free foreign education to the financially deprived students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Times of India has reported.
As per the report the children of two IAS officers are on the list of beneficiaries this year for the scheme which involves the state bearing full cost of tuition fees, living expenses, airfare, purchase of laptop, books etc without any upper limit.
The two beneficiaries of this scheme this year are the kids of Solapur collector Milind Shambharkar and Shyam Tagade, principal secretary of social justice and special assistance department, both of whom have an annual declared income of Rs 23.6 lakh and Rs 38 lakh respectively.
Incidentally in May of this year the social justice department mulled a plan to introduce an annual income ceiling of Rs 6 lakh but it was shelved following protests.
