Krantikari Hoax? BJP Cites Audio Clip For Calls Made By AAP Telling BJP Removed Their Names From Voters List

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has been accused by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of making “hoax calls” to people in Delhi spreading fake news that their names have been deleted from the electoral rolls by BJP.

The BJP shared an audio clip on Facebook and Twitter where the caller could be heard telling a person that BJP had deleted 30 lakh names from the electoral rolls. The voter, when inquired on how did the AAP manage to get the list from the Election Commission, the caller claimed that he was not authorised to disclose that information. When asked, the caller also clarified that he is talking on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party.

When the caller repeated that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is fighting on people’s behalf and he will be helped, the respondent clarified that he is a Supreme Court lawyer and he can himself help Arvind Kejriwal in the court.

Citing it as a ‘hoax call,’ the BJP said that the call was recorded by one of the party's well-wishers, as reported by India Today.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) on 10 February (Sunday) asked the Delhi Police to take appropriate action against the people who are making ‘misleading’ phone calls to people about the city's electoral rolls. Furthermore, the poll official made it clear that no one but the Electoral Registration Officer can remove or add names from electoral rolls.

Union Minister Vijay Goel lambasted Arvind Kejriwal over the incident and said that he should resign following the press release of the Chief Electoral Office which requested the Commissioner of Delhi Police to scrutinise the matter.
