Lalu Yadav’s Men Made BJP An Offer To Destabilise Nitish Kumar’s Government: Sushil Modi

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Bihar Sushil Modi, in yet another revelation related to Lalu Prasad Yadav, has said in an interview to The Economic Times that Yadav’s senior colleagues met senior BJP leaders in the government not once but twice and promised to destabilise the Nitish Kumar’s government in Bihar if only they help them in the Benami property cases against Yadav. But the BJP officials, he says, flatly refused to do so as “there cannot be any interference in the work of the agencies”.

Commenting on the impact of the various financial transactions of the Yadavs which are under the scanner, which the alliance says is ‘no threat to the government’, Modi explained saying “Income tax authorities have provisionally attached four properties lately - three of them are linked to Lalu’s son Tejashwi”.

“As far as I understand the I-T process, the way they gave notice to Misa Bharti to explain how she acquired properties, it is likely a notice will be served to Tejashwi. Now, being a deputy CM, if he has to appear before I-T to explain his source of income, which will be impossible for him to do, he should resign. If he does not resign, Nitish will be compelled to expel him,” he said.

Quizzed about the Mahagathbhandhan, he called the Lalu-Nitish coalition “an uneasy alliance with no cohesion,”. Drawing attention to the fact that the government has already seen a lot of hurdles in the last 17 months, he said, “They have not been able to constitute any board or commission, only because of infighting between partners,”.
