Managing Technology: IIT-Bombay And IIM-Bangalore Tie Up To Discuss ‘Future Of Learning’; Conference On 4, 5 January

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) and Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) are joining forces to host the second annual future of learning (FoL) conference named, “Learning 4.0: Connecting the Dots and Reaching the Unreached”, to be held at IIM-Bangalore on January 4-5 2019, reports The Indian Express.

The FoL conference 2019 aims to highlight the achievements and create a connection between academics, entrepreneurs, regulators and technologists, people who are shaping the 21st-century learning models.

The urban-rural digital divide is still vast, with internet penetration in rural areas 20 per cent while the urban’s is at 65 per cent, leaving 50 per cent of India’s population underserved educationally. The digital economy of South Asia is similar, with over 65 per cent of the people with limited or no internet access.

The 2019 FoL conference will address critical issues like attempts to bring the majority of underserved/unserved learners into the emerging learning networks and how to overcome the barriers to transformation and policy interventions needed. The focus will always be on financial models that are likely to be successful and ecosystem elements that need to evolve. One of the major points is how the learning model 4.0 should be in line with the principles of industry 4.0.

The conference will feature talks by FoL conference co-chair and Chair of IIMB digital learning, P D Jose, conference co-chair, and faculty, IIT Bombay Sridhar Iyer, conference co-chair, and faculty, IIT Bombay Deepak B Phatak, director, IIM Bangalore G Raghuram, senior associate dean, external relations and HBSP, Harvard Business School, Das Narayandas, chairperson and executive director, Narayana Health Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, founder and CEO edX, Anant Agarwal and Secretary, Department of Higher Education, HRD Ministry, R Subrahmanyam.
