Entertainment Journalists' Guild of India has announced the boycott of actor Kangana Ranaut after she got into a spat with a journalist in which she accused him of targeting her for making a film on nationalism.
During an interaction with the media while promoting her upcoming film Judgementall Hai Kya, Ranaut got into a verbal fight with a journalist and accused him of running a smear campaign against her.
In her statement, Ranaut accused the journalist of writing bad things against her and questioned his thought process.
"You are bashing my film Manikarnika. Have I made a mistake by making a film? You are calling me a jingoistic person for making a film on nationalism", Ranaut was quoted as saying.
This resulted in an uproar among the media fraternity, which demanded that Ranaut unconditionally apologise for her statement. The actor’s sister added fuel to the fire after tweeting that Ranaut would not apologise under any circumstances.
As reported by Times of India, the Entertainment journalist’s body has now written an open letter to Judgementall Hai Kya’s producer conveying its decision to boycott Ranaut.
Ekta Kapoor though has tried to quell the tension by apologising to the media over the incident and also appealed for the smooth release of the movie.
