A fire tragedy took place in the wee hours of Thursday (24 September) at an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) plant in Gujarat's Surat.
The fire was later brought under control, according to an official quoted by news agency ANI.
The accident took place at around 3:00am after three blasts were heard at the ONGC's Hazira plant, according to Surat District Collector Dr Dhaval Patel as quoted by ANI.
Patel also told news agency Reuters that the accident was caused by a rupture in a pipeline at the gas terminal.
Gas supplies to customers were also temporarily shut due to safety concerns.
