Mathura: PM Narendra Modi Sorts Plastic Waste With Sanitation Workers, Appeals To End Use Of Single-Use Plastic

Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Mathura in Uttar Pradesh today, reports ANI.

PM Modi will launch the National Artificial Insemination Programme. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Mathura MP Hema Malini are also present at the venue.

All set to launch a campaign against single-use plastic products, the prime minister also met women who pick plastic from garbage and extended a helping hand to them.

He will also launch today National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) that aims to eradicate the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis in the livestock.

In his address, PM appealed to self help groups, civil society, individuals and others to join the mission to rid India of plastic by 2 October 2019.

The prime minister also remembered the 9/11 terror-attack on its anniversary. He said, “A century ago, Swami Vivekananda gave his historic speech at Chicago about world peace on 11th September. Unfortunately, the same day also witnessed 9/11 terrorist attack in US that shook the world.”

He further added, “Today terrorism has become an ideology, which is not bound by national boundaries. This is a global problem. This has become a global threat whose deep roots are flourishing in our neighbourhood.”

The prime minister, targeting the Hinduphobic rhetoric prevalent in certain elite circles, said that it was unfortunate that there were some people who become restless and annoyed if the words ‘Om’ and ‘cow’ enter their ears.

“They feel that the country has gone back to 16th century. Such is their ‘gyan’ (knowledge). Those who wanted to destroy the country have not spared any measure to do so,” he added.
