Former Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on Sunday (26 November), attended an Army sponsored cricket match in Kunzar in Baramulla district as it’s chief guest. The event was part of a goodwill initiative by the army to normalise conditions in the area which is often affected by terrorism.

While thousands had gathered to meet the cricketer, who’s also a honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army, the crowd soon turned unruly and started shouting ‘Boom Boom Afridi’ and pro-Pakistan slogans. Several videos have emerged where the slogans are being chanted even as Dhoni is present while the army tries to control the crowd, reported IndianExpress.

Kashmiri population has been infamous for stone pelting and sloganeering since sometime, but this incident was unexpected given Dhoni’s popularity that cuts across regions.

Despite the sloganeering, Dhoni was calm and interacted with the crowd.
