Madhya Pradesh (MP) Chief Minister (CM) Shivraj Singh Chouhan who had recently expanded his cabinet with the induction of 28 Ministers will today (12 July) be allocating portfolios to them all, reports Times of India.
CM Chouhan himself made the announcement while in Gwalior yesterday (11 July) where he took the stock of the situation at Gwalior Smart City command centre to assess the city's preparedness to deal with COVID-19 pandemic.
"The allocation of portfolios is my duty. Today I am in Gwalior and will do the allocation tomorrow," Chouhan said while speaking to reporters at a press conference.
Also, the 28 new Ministers come in addition to five Ministers who CM Chouhan had inducted into the Cabinet back in April itself. These included Narottam Mishra, Meena Singh, Kamal Patel, Tulsi Silawat and Govind Singh Rajput.
As per the rules, the number of Ministers in a State can not exceed 15 per cent of the Assembly's strength. In accordance with the same, given the size of 230 chairs in the Assembly of MP, the total number of ministers in the state government can not exceed the total of 34.
