Mulayam Singh Yadav Admits To Threatening IPS Officer, Says Won’t Give Voice Sample

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has admitted that it was his voice in an audio clip where-in an IPS officer was threatened, even though he has refused to cooperate with the authorities in the matter, The Tribune has reported.

The matter dates back to 10 July 2015 when a 1992 batch IPS officer Amitabh Thakur alleged that Yadav had threatened him on the phone. He, as a result, filed a criminal intimidation complaint against the SP leader and also submitted a clip of the phone call.

Thakur alleged that in the 2 minutes 10-second phone call, Yadav asked him to mend his ways or face a repeat of 2006. As per Thakur, Yadav was referring to an incident in 2006 when he was posted as Jasrana’s Superintendent of Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad.

There he was allegedly assaulted by a local SP MLA and his associates in the presence of Yadav for not agreeing to the MLA’s undue demands.

While investigating the cellular threats, authorities asked Yadav to hand over his voice sample, a demand which he has continually refused. But in what might be a breakthrough, Yadav has now acknowledged that the voice in the sound clip was indeed his.

Following this confession, Circle Officer Anil Kumar Yadav who is heading the five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter said that the investigation is on and the court would take the final decision.
