The National Investigative Agency (NIA) yesterday (18 April) arrested Ariz Khan, and Indian Mujahideen operative wanted in connection with the 2005 Delhi blasts case. The NIA added that Khan was also wanted in the 2006 Varanasi blasts, 2007 Uttar Pradesh court blasts, 2008 blasts in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
The case pertains to the activities of members of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), a proscribed terrorist organization, in association with the other IM sleeper cells based in the country and others. These members conspired to commit terrorist act; by making preparation for targeting various important and prominent places of India especially in Delhi by causing bomb blasts.A statement released by the NIA.
A chargesheet against Khan was filed in September 2014. He was produced before an NIA judge at the Patiala House court in Delhi and has been sent to police custody.
