With the ongoing Lok Sabha elections coming to its conclusion, Janata Dal (United) party chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday (19 May) suggested that the entire election process should be wrapped up within two-three phases instead of being held over long duration as in the present system, reports Financial Express.

CM Kumar stressed that the elections should be held in consultation with different parties, and there should not be a very long gap between two phases. In this respect, Kumar also said that he would write to all political parties to deliberate and build a consensus on this once the results of the ongoing elections are announced.

“There was a long gap between each phase of voting. I will write to leaders of all parties to build a consensus on this. All the parties should think about this,” the founder and leader of Janata Dal (United) said.

He also underscored that the elections should be either preponed to February or postponed to October-November period as that would provide much relief to the voters from the searing heat of the summer sun.
