No Permission Sought For Tablighi Jamaat Gathering, Says Delhi Police

BySwarajya Staff

The Delhi police have said that no permission had been sought by the organisers of the Tablighi Jamaat congregation, which has emerged to be a super spreader of Covid-19 across the country.

As per a report in The Times of India, police said no permission was sought by the organisers and there was no count of the number of participants as the gathering took place within Banglewali Masjid.

DCP (Southeast) RP Meena has been quoted by the newspaper as saying, “When we came to know about the congregation, we issued a notice to the organisers after which the programme was stopped.”

The visitors, however, continued to stay in guest houses around their mosque without informing anyone, the report says.

The report says that the gathering is also under the scanner of intelligence agencies.
