Over 5.5 Crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries across India as on Friday (27 March) morning.

India rolled out the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive on 16 January 2020, by first administering the vaccines to health care workers (HCWs) and frontline workers (FLWs). In the second phase of the vaccination drive, which began on 1 March, the vulnerable population including people above 60 years of age and those above 45 with comorbidities are being vaccinated against the Coronavirus.

According to the Health Ministry, as many as 5,55,04,44 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered through 9,01,887 sessions across the country.


As many as 23,58,731 vaccine doses were administered on the 69th day (25 March) of the Covid vaccination drive.

Of the 23 lakh vaccinated on Thursday, 21,54,934 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 40,595 sessions for first dose and 2,03,797 HCWs and FLWs received second dose of vaccine, the ministry said.
