In a major development, during a search of the residence of tainted Mumbai Police cop Sachin Waze, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found 62 unaccounted bullets, reports Times of India.
Apprising a special court about the unaccounted bullets, NIA also added that of the official ammunition which Waze was allotted, only five of the 30 bullets were recovered from his residence and the rest were missing.
Representing the NIA, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh pressed before the court that given a police officer has to be accountable for each and every bullet he is assigned, the NIA wanted to ascertain the purpose for which the 25 missing bullets were used, and under what patronage did he choose to not maintain a record.
Singh also informed the court that the investigations had revealed that Waze had paid Rs 12 lakh for 100 days for a suit at Oberoi Hotel, and that which he had used a fake Aadhaar card to book the suite.
The special court has extended Waze's custody with the NIA till 3 April.
