Overtaking President Trump, PM Modi Is Now The Second Most Followed Leader Across Social Media
According to a new study, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the second most-followed politician in the world with a social media following of almost 111 million reports IANS.
PM Modi overtook US President Donald Trump who has 96 million followers globally. Former US President Barack Obama retained the top spot with 182,710,777 followers.
It should be noted that though PM Modi performs better than President Trump across the three platforms taken cumulatively, the latter is still the second-most followed politician on Twitter.
The study by online visibility management and content marketing SaaS platform SEMrush took into account the following of global leaders on three leading social media sites - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
"The popularity of our PM Narendra Modi is immense and the study finding depicting him as the 2nd most followed person globally after former US President Barack Obama is a culmination of this fact," said Fernando Angulo, Head of International Partnership, SEMrush.
On the other hand, Opposition leader and Congress party President Rahul Gandhi has only 12 million followers from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
