Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury leads the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Indian Parliament. Last month, the leader from West Bengal had written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and proposed for the members of the PAC to visit the Ladakh sector. The objective of this tour will be to comprehend the requirements and working conditions of the soldiers stationed in the region.
Now, Hindustan Times reports that the parliamentarians comprised in the aforementioned committee will visit Leh on 28-29 October. As the standoff between India and China continues at the border, the PAC will look into the ration and housing facilities of the troops deployed in the sector. They will also examine the high-altitude clothing provisions of the soldiers as the weather tends to worsen at this time of year in Leh-Ladakh.
The PAC will now meet on 23 October to establish their itinerary for this initiative.
