An emergency security meeting is being conducted at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi with top ministers and officials in attendance to discuss the situation following the reported incursion of several Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 aircraft beyond the Line-of-Control (LoC) into Indian airspace, reports India Today.
India is said to have shot down one of the Pakistani F-16s in retaliatory action.
The prime minister is being briefed on India’s state of defence preparedness following this latest escalation.
Earlier today Home Minister Rajnath Singh was briefed on the border security situation by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and heads of the various paramilitary forces. Both Doval and Singh are also present at this meet, along with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Modi rushed to the meeting after leaving a function he was addressing at the Vigyan Bhawan.
