PM Modi Expresses Firm Stance On Reservation, Says It Is Here To Stay 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview to news agency ANI has firmly expressed that his government has no intention of abolishing reservations.

When asked about his stance on caste-based reservations and whether his government was waiting for the right time to abolish it, Modi replied that the constitution’s objectives and BR Ambedkar’s dreams are still incomplete. He thus claimed that reservation is a valuable tool to achieve those dreams which his government is committed to fulfil.

He, as a result, stated that reservation is here to stay and that there should be no doubts about it. He then asserted that it is essential to protect the rights of the “ poor, marginalised, downtrodden, Dalits, Tribals and OBCs” to ensure Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.

While answering the same question, Modi alleged that before every major election vested interests float a narrative that his government will abolish reservations, which is then amplified by a section of the media.

Modi claimed that such kinds of people are involved in politicising the issue, thereby sowing the seeds of mistrust among the society’s weaker sections. The Prime Minister though optimistically claimed that Indians wouldn’t believe this propaganda.

Modi claimed that maximum MPs and MLAs belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes are members of the BJP. He also attacked the Congress over this issue by claiming that the situation in that party is no different from when Rajiv Gandhi had vehemently opposed the Mandal commission in the parliament.
