The Telangana Election Office has said that anyone with a laptop can earn Rs 2,400 by participating in the digital coverage of the elections. There is a need for 33,000 people to relay and record CCTV footage from polling stations across the state, providing students with a way to make some quick money.
In 2014, only half the polling stations in the state could be accorded CCTV coverage. However, Telangana Election Commission officials have said that in 2018 cameras would be installed in all the 32,796 booths, as reported by New Indian Express.
In sensitive areas, the cameras would be installed outside as well. The footage will be relayed live from stations that have Internet connectivity, and will be recorded otherwise.
With the increased demand for people who can operate the cameras, people are being offered the opportunity to volunteer towards the initiative. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Amrapali Kata said that those interested can register by logging on to the portal and leave their name, email address and other details in the online form. She added that anyone with a laptop, even students, can help and be paid.
