Actor and filmmaker Prakash Raj, known for his recent tilt towards the field of politics, today (22 March) visited the Ali Shah Dargah in Bengaluru to offer prayers prior to filing his nomination documents for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, reports ANI.
Back in January this year, Raj announced his intention of contesting the Lok Sabha polls from the Bengaluru Central constituency. His principal competitor for the seat will be BJP's P C Mohan, who is the incumbent parliamentarian from the seat and has held it since 2009.
The actor-turned-politician is known for an intensely anti-BJP position. He has been particularly vocal in public following the killing of journalist Gauri Lankesh.
Elections in Karnataka will take place in two phases, on 18 April and 23 April respectively. Counting will commence on 23 May.
