Talking about the performance of the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app of the government, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that the app has successfully recorded 17 million downloads so far, making a world record.
“BHIM App is doing very well, it got 17 million downloads. It is an active, alert and progressive means of transactions, which requires three easy steps,” said Kant.
Launched in December last year for fast and secure cashless transactions, the indigenous digital payments app BHIM, enables digital payments through means like mobile wallets, USSD and RuPay that witnessed massive uptake and rise in transactions post demonetisation.
“The app initially suffered some glitches due to level of technical failure has been taken care significantly,” added Kant while agreeing to the initial problems that the app faced. He added that cash-back and referral schemes through the BHIM app will soon be enforced that will additionally make the transactions easier.
On December 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the app for fast and secure cashless transactions using mobile phones.
