Priyanka Visiting Ayodhya Only Due To Poll Season, Voters Are Intelligent, Educated: Ram Temple Case Litigant

BySwarajya Staff

In yet another sign that Priyanka Vadra’s campaign efforts to revive the Congress’ fortunes in Uttar Pradesh may not be having the desired effect, Sunni Waqf Board representative and the main Muslim litigant in the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple case, Iqbal Ansari, has asserted that her visit to Ayodhya was motivated by political aims prior to the election, and that the Congress had neglected the town for 60 years, reports ABP News.

“.......Priyankaji is coming to Ayodhya now, but before this, Congress leaders never remembered Ayodhya. Now that it is time for elections, she has decided to visit the place. But they will not gain anything out of this in the elections, because during the Congress party’s rule for 60 years, there was no development, no job creation in the town. The people of Ayodhya are also well-educated and they want development and jobs. But none of that is available here. Priyankaji’s visit is politically motivated,” Ansari remarked.

Upon being asked whether Priyanka’s decision to not visit the site of the makeshift Ram Temple at the disputed site was motivated by a desire to not alienate Muslim voters, Ansari replied that, “No one can say at this point of time which political party will have the support of Muslims, because the people want jobs, they want development, that is what they are demanding. These days for the work of development we have Chief Minister Yogiji, Prime Minister Narendra Modiji. They are the ones overseeing development. The chief minister has visited Aydohya many times, and now we have started seeing development taking place here.”

Ansari added that Priyanka Gandhi’s visit to Ayodhya was her on own personal business and that it would not become an electoral issue.

“Just by visiting, you will receive votes? That is not going to happen. People are educated and intelligent,” Ansari remarked.
