Just minutes after D K Shivakumar’s urgent press conference in which he alleged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will soon raid properties belonging to 11 Congress MLAs including himself, the central agency launched raids in 5 locations across the Karnataka.
Armed with a search warrant that the agency obtained last evening in connection with demonetisation case where an illegal transfer and conversion of old notes worth Rs 10 lakh was said to have taken place, the agency raided houses of 11 people including two bank managers in Bangalore, Ramanagara and Kanakapura.
At the presser, Shivakumar along with his brother D K Suresh had alleged that this move was a part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) vendetta politics.
As reported by Public TV, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also pointed fingers at the central government and said that this is an ill intentioned political attack and such moves have no legal strength and that the BJP will not be successful in its attempts to destabilise the government.
"The central government has unleashed the CBI on the Congress as it is not able to handle the coalition forming a government in Karnataka" Siddaramaiah was quoted as saying.
