In a shocking incident in Ludhiana, Punjab, a couple was kidnapped, robbed and manhandled by a gang of men who proceeded to rape the woman along with another group of seven others, reports India Today.
The couple’s ordeal began when their car was stopped on a road by five men who pelted stones at them. They were then pulled out of the vehicle and taken to a farmhouse in the vicinity.
The gang then thrashed the man and asked him for Rs 2 lakh. The man contacted a friend and asked him to arrange for the money but instead, the friend informed the police. However, the police is accused of not taking any action.
As the police failed to arrive at the scene of the crime, the initial gang of the accused called another seven men to the spot where all twelve of them raped the woman.
A case has been registered against the accused persons by Mullanpur Dakha police even as the former, who have not been identified, are still absconding. The cops are also going through CCTV footage of the scene to try and determine the identities of the accused.
The victim couple has called for action to be taken against the cops who were on duty but did not come to their aid.
