Pushing ahead with the QUAD cooperation between the United States (US), India, Japan and Australia, the four nations are exploring the evolution of a common approach on 5G telecom technology, reports Economic Times.

The officials from the four nations held a virtual meeting on Friday (24 September), noting the importance of digital connectivity and secure networks. They took up discussions on promoting the use of trusted technology vendors, particularly for 5G networks.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that India and Japan are said to have already been in touch regarding the development of 5G technology. The subject was extensively deliberated upon during the first 2+2 ministerial dialogue between the two nations which took place in November last year.

The subject is also expected to be discussed in granular detail at the annual India-Japan summit which is likely to take place by the end of the year.
